What you’ll do:

  • Manages and develops a team of professional services coworkers responsible for the day to day management and coordination of resourcing requirements for all billable resources in the Professional Services department, across a wide range of skills and technologies required by clients in multiple locations in the UK and internationally.
  • Accountable for the current and future commercial success of their team, department and CDW, through effective management and forecasting of billable and productive utilisation of their team, continually ensuring coworkers are deployed on the most relevant work for their skill set, aspirations and location and that set individual, team and departmental KPI targets are met or exceeded.
  • In conjunction with other Professional Services Managers, proactively works to reduce third party spend to maximise profit in CDW by continuously reporting on and analysing utilisation, skills, coworker numbers and pipeline forecasts to appropriately balancing resources across internal, contract and third parties.
  • In conjunction with other Professional Services Managers, Opportunities, Sales, BDMs and Solution Architects builds, tracks, maintains and reports on an engagement pipeline containing at least three to six months’ work for all Professional Services teams.
  • Develops, retains, attracts and actively encourages dedicated, highly motivated and highly skilled talent and works proactively to strike an agreed balance between internal, contract and partner resources.
  • Prepares PMP and training/development plan documentation once a year with regular reviews for all coworkers, where reviews consist of measurement against set objectives, highlighting training, shadowing and accreditation needs and a discussion about career aspirations and development.
  • Develops and regularly maintains skills matrices, vendor accreditations, security accreditations, training plans, career aspirations and succession plans for all coworkers.
  • In conjunction with other Professional Services Managers and Vendor Managers, owns and champions vendor relationships ensuring minimum levels of vendor accreditations are maintained, and minimum spends are achieved, to allow CDW to obtain agreed levels of rebates.
  • Acts as a mentor and general escalation point for all work carried out by their team seeking out mentoring, shadowing, training to support coworkers where needed.
  • Ensures regular monthly team meetings are carried out with at least two of these being face to face each year.
  • Works with the wider CDW organisation and partners on pre-sales and pipeline opportunities, assisting with exploratory client discussions, estimating resource costs, preparing bid responses and peer reviewing proposals.
  • Promotes Professional Services and Operations with all client-facing coworkers to ensure there is an awareness of capability, success and value for the services provided within their team and department.
  • Works closely with the Head of Consultancy & Head of Projects to deliver the agreed strategic and cultural direction of the Professional Services department and general improvements to meet or exceed departmental KPIs.
  • Accountable for embracing and enhancing CDW’s brand, and that of Operations and Professional Services, inside and outside of CDW.


What you need to succeed:


  • Holds, maintains and continues to develop an appropriate level of technical delivery and project methodology awareness through prior experience from being involved in resourcing complex projects, training, vendor relationships, industry awareness and attendance / participation in trade/vendor events.
  • Is able to continually demonstrate exceptional skills in team and budget management, organisation, reporting of business metrics, governance, delivery of excellence and all types of communication.
  • Is able to demonstrate balance enhancing the CDW brand whilst ensuring that the requirements of their team are met.
  • Has proven extensive commercial awareness, able to protect the interests of CDW in all aspects of professional services delivery.
  • Is able to continually demonstrate comprehensive, relevant, management experience as well as prior expert-level experience within one or more relevant fields.
  • Is able to continually demonstrate delivery of quality and consistency whilst delivering excellence and at the same time continuing to strive for improvement.
  • Prior experience working in an IT Services organisation, IT channel, or value-added reseller.
