The Manager, Business Partner Coworker Relations is an integral part within the Coworker Services (HR) organization as well as an indispensable resource to the business organization it supports. The Manager, Business Partner Coworker Relations provides advice and counsel for all coworkers and managers on moderate to complex associate relations and human resources issues. This position is the face of Coworker Relations to the business.


This role analyses and resolves associate relations issues and oversees and guides business leaders on various employee relations issues such as attendance, performance management, disciplinary action, policy interpretation, compliance, coworker transitions/separations and crisis management. This role will also partner with the Business Partner role in the areas of change management, reporting, organizational initiatives, talent planning and business advisement.


Matrix partners: Business Partner, Legal, Ethics and Compliance, and Business Leadership, to deliver seamless service and associate relations advice, themes and trends to the business.


This role’s success depends on the ability to build trusting and collaborative relationships with all areas of CWS and the business. The ability to influence leaders and act courageously when facing resistance to change is critical. This role is also responsible for implementing corporate policy, practices and procedures. This role is seen as a trusted advisor and problem-solver. The team values your counsel and your ability to frame up issues and identify possible solutions on a variety of coworker relations topics.


What you’ll do:

  • Act as an internal advisor and coach to provide solutions and analysis on coworker relations issues relating to the business and assigned functions.
  • Coach and advise managers at all levels with respect to interpretation of corporate, company policy (Road to Success) and procedures and business practices.
  • Oversee team analysis with trends and themes on advanced and complex coworker relations issues to make decisions and recommendations to the business and assigned functions.
  • Directly run complex investigations concerning harassment, workplace violence, discrimination and any other inappropriate behaviour or misconduct in the workplace. Partner with necessary stakeholders including CWS Business Partners, Legal, Ethics and Compliance, Safety and Security and other departments as needed.
  • Provide investigation analysis and recommended next steps and the investigation conclusion and notify appropriate partners of the investigation outcome.
  • Manage and maintain all supporting investigation notes, statements and documentation in EthicsPoint 
  • Act as the primary interface with senior leadership levels on all coworker relations issues within the business.
  • Uphold policies that increase retention rates and foster coworkers’ morale and engagement
  • Review themes and trends across all coworker relations issues to ensure appropriate practices were followed and determine in partnership with CWS Business Partner what can be done to mitigate the issues from occurring in the future
  • Identify stakeholders needed to accomplish initiatives and work collaboratively with other CDW departments
  • Travel as needed


What you need to succeed:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • CIPD Qualified
  • 8 years business facing human resources experience in various disciplines, but generalist experience preferred in a population of 500+ coworkers
  • Coaching, influencing and negotiation skills across all levels of business stakeholders
  • In-depth knowledge of HR policies and procedures and in employment law
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Previous direct or indirect leadership experience
  • Advanced knowledge of human resource legislation and employment laws 
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead a high-performance team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels in a constructive, balanced and professional manner
  • Executive presence and strong presentation ability
  • Strong conflict resolution and problem solving skills 
  • History of managing change and advising business stakeholders through change
  • Proven track record of strong interpersonal skills and good judgment to manage sensitive and confidential matters
  • Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities/projects with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business while meeting deadlines and providing high quality work and service levels
