Main purpose of job:

As the Revenue Accountant, you will be responsible for accurately delivering month-end results, including taking ownership of monthly Hardware and Software revenue. You will create certainty and confidence in the numbers delivered and communicate risks and opportunities to the business.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Accounting for Revenue in accordance with both ASC 606 (US GAAP) and FRS 102 (UK GAAP), which includes:

    • Ensuring the standalone selling price within a large volume of transactions has been calculated properly

    • Investigating new or unusual transactions to ensure they are properly recorded

    • Analysing gross margin to help ensure confidence in the reported results

    • Ongoing process improvement to aid in-month and month-end reporting and analysis

  • Delivering insightful analysis of revenue and gross margin to the Revenue Accounting Manager and Chief Accountant, including reviewing revenue and margin at a customer and deal level

  • Ownership and maintenance of the Product reconciliation file, an Excel-based financial model which is key for deal analysis and reconciliation

  • Utilising advance data analysis tools such as power query to extract account records

  • Communicating and investigating with Sales departments to analyse current deals and ensure postings align with business processes.

  • Communicating with non-finance teams to improve understanding of systems, processes, and commercial drivers

  • Performing and reviewing SOX controls in a timely manner

  • Preparing annual statutory financial statements, including supporting files for the auditors

  • Participating in ad hoc projects as needed, including process improvement and improving commercial understanding

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Qualified Accountant with 1-2 years of post-qualification experience.

  • Thorough understanding of US GAAP/IFRS, with the ability to distinguish differences from FRS 102, particularly IFRS 15/ASC 606 (US GAAP).

  • Advance Excel skills

  • Experience handling large volume datasets.

  • Proficiency with using Power Query is preferable.

  • Experience in multi-national US parent organizations is a plus.

  • Familiarity with Navision is preferable but not essential.

  • Proven experience working to tight close deadlines.
