JOB SUMMARY  

In this Test role you will be an integral part of the project's overall success. We are implementing a new platform (ServiceNow) and this Test role will take responsibility for supporting the development and integration of this platform into BAU operations. Additionally, you’ll be expected to bring your wider test expertise to apply & scale the ‘test capability’ functionality for CDW Technology and other planned Enterprise SaaS and in-house supported systems. Typically, you would be working alongside stakeholders in the business, the project team and the supplier. 

 

The Lead Tester will be leading the testing for Service Now initially but it is very much a mix of “hands-on” test delivery, developing strategy, tooling, automation and test capability for CDW Business Systems. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

As a Test specialist for In-House, Enterprise SaaS platforms and ServiceNow, your primary goal is to lead the testing strategy, approach plans, process and cases for Service Now and other system testing. To ensure the quality, reliability, and optimal performance of software solutions. Your role extends beyond conventional testing to strategic planning, mentoring, and shaping a robust test culture. Key responsibilities include: 

 

Test Strategy Development: 

  • Formulate comprehensive test strategies tailored to ServiceNow and Cloud based SAAS platforms, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices. 
  • Document comprehensive test scripts & usability cases in a well-defined, auditable and reportable area to ensure changes & defects are logged correctly. 

 

Requirement Analysis and Planning: 

  • Conduct thorough analysis of system specifications, collaborate with stakeholders, and develop effective test plans for ServiceNow and enterprise SAAS-based applications. 

 

Execution and Oversight: 

  • Lead the execution of test cases at various levels, including UI, database, and REST, ensuring comprehensive testing of ServiceNow functionalities and SaaS components. 

 

Integration and Scalability Testing: 

  • Implement rigorous testing for seamless integration of ServiceNow with diverse systems. Evaluate scalability to accommodate growing business needs. 

 

Risk Assessment and Mitigation: 

  • Identify potential risks in testing processes and develop proactive mitigation strategies to ensure the delivery of high-quality and risk-resilient software solutions. 

 

Cross-functional Collaboration: 

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, Product owners and business stakeholders, to ensure testing aligns with project objectives. 

 

Automation Implementation: 

  • Strategically implement automation tools to enhance testing efficiency, especially in repetitive and critical areas of ServiceNow and other SAAS applications. 

 

Define the test cases: 

  • Build strong relationships with the end user community, project team and product owner.  
  • Define, update, and maintain playbook of test cases for the ServiceNow platform you provide QA testing for. 

 

Record Defects & Issues 

  • Reviewing and analysing system specifications by executing test scripts and reviewing results. 
  • Providing comprehensive reporting on technical issues, defects and change logs. 

 

Team Leadership and Mentoring: 

  • Where required, manage and mentor a team of QA Testers, providing guidance, support, and fostering a collaborative working environment. Ensure knowledge transfer and skills development. 
  • Using your skills, knowledge, experience and best practice to pro-actively develop the test capability within business systems area of CDW Technology. 

 

Continual Improvement 

  • Identify ways to improve processes so they are lean and efficient while meeting business delivery requirements in line with backlog. 
  • Continually identify ways to enhance testing quality but also minimising business impact & costs.  
  • Improve the team ways of working in line with best practice, standards, frameworks and test automation as well as the use of AI and industry standard tooling.  
  • Development of the test function and capability in line with best practice SDLC frameworks and methods

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

Must Have: 

 

Proven Experience 

  • Demonstrated experience as a QA Tester and ideally a Test Lead with a focus on ServiceNow / ITSM tooling and Enterprise level SaaS systems (e.g. Salesforce, Workday, SAP), showcasing successful delivery of high-quality software solutions. 
  • At least a 3+ years hands on testing experience with multiple ServiceNow Modules & Integration pipelines 
  • Experience managing testing at an Enterprise level and in high paced environment as an independent tester, in small and larger teams across a variety of technology and business challenges 

 

Technical Proficiency 

  • Strong technical skills in testing methodologies, automation tools, and a deep understanding of ServiceNow and SAAS application landscapes. 
  • Working within and excellent practitioner understanding of best practice / industry standard SDLC 

 

 

Leadership Skills 

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to guide and inspire a team of QA Testers, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. 

 

Strategic Thinker 

  • Strategic mindset to develop effective test strategies aligned with business objectives, coupled with a keen analytical ability for requirement analysis. 
     

Test Tooling Experience 

  • Proficient with common and industry standard test tools / automation such as JIRA, DataDog, Katalon Studio, Appium, Selenium, Azure 
  • Experience with setting up test tools, configuration, managing and extracting the optimised outcomes  

 

Nice to Have: 

 

Qualifications 

  • ServiceNow certifications or relevant SaaS certifications would be advantageous, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development. 
  • Cloud platforms like Azure, AWS and/or CIAM 
  • Degree or equivalent, preferably in Computer Science or Information Technology, and proven experience in technical consulting roles 

 

Agile Experience 

  • Experience working in Agile environments, contributing to the efficiency of iterative development and testing cycles. 

 

 

Software Development / Business Analyst Experience  

  • Relevant software development background would be advantageous, particularly experience with development and configuration of Service Now 
  • Background in Business Analysis is also desirable, particularly in a managed services, ITSM background 
  • Experience with testing across various industry standard ITSM tools  

 

Innovative Approach 

  • A forward-thinking mindset, open to exploring innovative testing approaches and technologies in the ServiceNow and SAAS domain. 

Effective Communication: 

  • Strong communication skills, facilitating effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients. 

 

This role requires a seasoned Tester with a comprehensive understanding of ServiceNow and Cloud based SaaS platform testing methods, coupled with the ability to lead, mentor, drive continuous improvement, and strategically mitigate risks in the testing process.
