What you’ll do:

 

  • To support the operational effectiveness of CDW UK through effective Application, Platform and System (APS) support.
  • To respond to technical / functional queries and issues associated with the Corporate IT Application stack.
  • To monitor the effectiveness and operational status of the Corporate IT Application stack through:
  • Log Monitoring and Analysis
  • Application, platform and system configuration reviews
  • To respond to tickets raised in the Application Support Assignment Group in the relevant ticketing platforms.
  • To offer a customer centric service to all CDW Coworkers in regards to technical queries and issues raised.
  • To act as a technical escalation and coordination point for Service Desk and Corporate EUC colleagues.
  • To support knowledge sharing within the Corporate IT function by facilitating the effective transfer of knowledge to IT Service Desk and Corporate EUC colleagues.
  • To support a Security Centric and focussed operation at all times
  • To act as the Application owner and Business contact point for Corporate IT APS’s
  • Operate as part of a 24x7x365 on-call rota
  • Communicate effectively within the Corporate IT function ensuring that the relevant Team Leaders and Managers are aware of and kept abreast of key issues and problems
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to Project work streams
  • Proactively maintain and develop knowledge, technical and non-technical skills and experience through industry sources, formalised training and a Coworker centred development plan
  • To assist with the upgrades of APS’s in conjunction with 3rd party vendors, contractors and other Corporate IT colleagues.
  • To liaise with and escalate to 3rd party vendors as needed in relation to the installation, support, maintenance and upgrading of Corporate IT APS’s.
  • To support restores from backups of APS’s.
  • To test the effectiveness of upgrades, restores and patching activities through effective post deployment testing.
  • To recommend enhancements, improvements and configuration changes in line with the needs of the Business and Corporate IT function.
  • To support a Security Centric and focussed operation at all times.
  • To act as the Application owner and Business contact point for Corporate IT APS’s.
  • Operate as part of a 24x7x365 on-call rota.
  • Communicate effectively within the Corporate IT function ensuring that the relevant Team Leaders and Managers are aware of and kept abreast of key issues and problems.

What you need to succeed:

Must-have:

 

  • Prior experience of operating as an Application Support / 2nd Line Engineer (3 years +)
  • Demonstrable experience of championing customer service through effective communication
  • Proven ability to articulate technical concepts and solution in easily understandable terms and language
  • Experience of operating as part of a team delivering APS implementations or upgrades
  • Knowledge/experience in the following technologies
  • Windows Server 2008/2012/2016/2019
  • Exchange 2016 and Online
  • O365 (Teams, Sharepoint Online, One Drive etc.)
  • Active Directory
  • File Server / Print Server
  • Incident, Change and Problem Management Platforms
  • Asset Management and CMDB solutions
  • Scripting

 

 

Nice to have:

 

  • Computing related Degree / Education
  • 3rd party vendor and client interaction experience
  • Experience of owning an APS Project delivery
  • Industry recognised qualifications in relevant areas
  • Hands on experience of the following technologies:
  • EICC Call Centre or equivalent Call Centre Applications
  • Citrix
  • Azure, AWS or other cloud computing platforms
  • Testing automation platforms
  • Cisco CUCM 12.5
  • Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains / Dynamics 365
  • VMware
  • SCCM
  • InTune
